The temporary mayor of the Bulgarian capital Sofia will be elected by the city council on July 29.

This will be the last session of the councilors before their summer vacation, Darik Radio announced.

Sofia's outgoing Mayor, Boyko Borisov, will be the next Prime Minister of Bulgaria after his party GERB won the elections on July 5. After he is elected as a PM, his duty as a major will be automatically discontinued.

By law, the temporary mayor will take the position until a new mayor is elected by the citizens. The city will be governed by one of Borisov's deputies.

Most probably this will be Minko Gerdzhikov, who is responsible for the financial affairs. So far, Gerdzhikov has always substituted Borisov, when he have been unable to perform his duties.
