Bulgaria: Bulgarian 'Bungee Grandma' Jumps off Tirol Bridge A file photo of Penka Angelova where she could be seen jumping with a parachute

84-year-old Penka Baleva, a Bulgarian woman, is now an idol for young bungee jumpers, an Austrian daily has said.

On Saturday Baleva plunged off the famous 192-m-high Europabr?cke (Europe Bridge) in Tirol, one of the world's landmarks for bungee lovers.

With her 13 years' experience in jumping, the woman certainly ranks among these; and apart from courage she also "shows national pride", Die Krone newspaper has noted.

Over the years Baleva has developed a peculiar tradition that seems to have hugely impressed the public. Every time she jumps goes in hand with a war-cry: "For Bulgaria!"

The woman points out that she would never have made it to Europabr?cke ("my dream") without support from her family.

But she also makes clear that Saturday's jump was by no means her last.

A South African named Mohr Keet is thought to have been the world's oldest bungee jumper (aged 96 at the time he plunged off).
