The leaders of Bulgaria's right-wing opposition UDF and DSB parties, Martin Dimitrov and Ivan Kostov, signed Friday a pre-election coalition agreement.
According to the agreement, the Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) and Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) will have joint ballots in the upcoming elections for Bulgaria's Parliament and will work on common policies in Bulgaria's next government.
"Unity makes strong and it will not allow the now ruling tri-party coalition to remain in power," Martin Dimitrov stated upon conclusion of the ceremony, which was held at the Radisson hotel in downtown Sofia.
The document states that one of goals of the coalition is to send the ruling Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), the ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) and the National Movement for Stability and Progress (NMSP) of former Tsar Simeon Saxe-Coburg in opposition and try in court those guilty of Bulgaria's failure as a Member State of the European Union.
Ivan Kostov, on his part, said that those who were against the right-wing coalition were effectively supporting the current Cabinet.
Both UDF and BSB declared they were open to negotiate with other formations to be included in the coalition, but excluded the Bulgarian New Democracy (BND) party as a potential partner.
Very few UDF representatives from the Party's parliamentary group attended the signing of the agreement. The Party leader, Martin Dimitrov, explained it with that fact that they were busy with other tasks.
