British citizens based in the Bulgarian city of Veliko Tarnovo gathered to celebrate to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's diamond jubilee, according to local media.

The Brits gathered in a Brit expats' family home in the village of Pushevo, the BGNES news agency informs. They enjoyed traditional British meals and drinks, while some of their Bulgarian friends offered local dishes.

The Queen came to the throne on 6 February 1952 and her coronation took place on 2 June 1953. She celebrated her Silver Jubilee (25 years) in 1977 and her Golden Jubilee (50 years) in 2002.

The Central Weekend to celebrate The Queen's Diamond Jubilee takes place from Saturday 2 June to Tuesday 5 June 2012, with celebratory activities throughout the UK and in many countries across the world.
