Approximately 57% of all Bulgarians celebrate Easter as a major religious holiday, according to a study conducted by the local National Center for Study of Public Opinion.

There has been a 7% increase in the share of Bulgarians who celebrate Easter since 2007, the study suggests.

Meanwhile, the share of celebrating responders who reveal that they celebrate Easter on rather non-religious grounds has decreased by 9% to 31%.

A mere 4% of all 1000 responders have declared that the holiday has no importance for them whatsoever, while 9% do not celebrate it because of their religious or cultural background.

April 15 is Easter Sunday for Orthodox Christians this year.

On Sunday, all eparchies in Bulgaria serve the so-called "Second Resurrection" mass.
