Bulgaria will open an honorary consulate in Reykjavik, it has been announced.

Sigridur Ingvarsdottir, who is President of the Caritas world charity organization since 1993, will head the consulate, the Bulgarian government has informed.

Ingvarsdottir has graduated in political science from the University in Iceland in 1984. She also holds degrees in business studies from the London School of Economics, in arts administration from City University London and in contemporary arts studies from Sotheby's.

The new Bulgarian honorary consul in the northern country has been the host of various political and cultural programs broadcasted by the Icelandic state-owned RUV TV channel. She has been involved in numerous NGOs.

Bulgaria expects the re-opening of its honorary consulate in Iceland to contribute to the deepening and broadening of the bilateral relations between the two countries.
