Protesting Greek farmers have blocked the railroad at the Kulata-Promahon border cross point at the Bulgarian-Greek border.

Until now, only the road was blocked by tractors and other farming equipment, triggering huge lines of vehicles and losses for Bulgarian businesses amounting to millions of EUR.

At 5 pm, the Greek demonstrators also blocked the Capitan Petko Voyvoda-Ormenion border point for all traffic. The say the blockade will be lifted at 7 pm.

The Ilinden-Eksohi border cross point is open for cars and busses. 16 tractor-trailers are reported to be waiting in line to cross the border. According to reports, the trucks will be let through the checkpoint between 9 pm Wednesday and 9 am Thursday.

A line of 210 tractor-trailers has formed at Kulata, but cars and buses are passing through.

The Zlatograd border point is open for traffic.

Earlier Wednesday, the European Commission informed the EU might sanction Greece over the blockade.
