Bulgaria ranks 44th among the best countries for doing business, according to the US "Forbes" magazine, while Romania takes the 40th place, Turkey is the 41st followed by Croatia and Greece takes the 53rd place.
Only one country from the former Communist block - Estonia has ranked among the top 10. Estonia joined the European Union in 2004.
Denmark is number one on the list of best countries for business and has improved its ranking by moving up thee places compared to 2007.
Ireland, however, improved its ranking by 19 places and currently ranks second in the list. Finland is third.
The USA lost their third position and are now taking the fourth place.
The remaining top ten include Great Britain (5), Sweden (7), Canada (8), Singapore (9) and Estonia.
From the bigger EU countries, Germany is 21st while France is 25th.
Due to political instability, high inflation rates, obstacles for investors, countries with fast developing economies such as India and China have moved back on the list with India losing 13 places and now being 64th and China loosing 2 and ranking 79th.
On of the biggest drops is Japan loosing 21 places to currently rank 24th. Reasons cited were problems announced by the Committee for Economy and Finance Policies among them the 40% corporate tax. The tax makes Japan less competitive than countries from the region such as Hong Kong where corporative tax is 17,5% and South Korea with 25%
