Bulgaria's Nuke Starts Re-Qualification of Employees

Bulgaria's Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant has started a program for re-qualification of some of its employees, who worked on the closed Units 1-4.

A total of 51 employees will be taught new skills in the program that started in the beginning of May, Darik News revealed. They will spend 5 months learning about the systems and equipment of the plant's two remaining units number 5 and 6. The two units are of a newer generation and are constructed differently that the ones these people were used to working at.

With this re-qualification program, Kozloduy NPP aims to preserve the motivation and engagement of the workers who were employed at the units 1-4, the plant's head of production Alexander Nikolov said.

Kozloduy had to close down four of its units as agreed in Bulgaria's EU accession treaty.
