Entertainment conglomerate Viacom picked Yahoo to provide in-site contextual search and contextual advertising for Viacom's 33 broadband websites, the company said late on Tuesday.

The deal currently includes MTV.com, VH1.com and comedycentral.com, but could later be expanded to more than 140 additional Viacom websites, according to Viacom's statement.

The deal is the latest blow in Viacom's war with Google, the web's leading provider of contextual ads.

Last month, Viacom sued Google claiming copyright violation and damages, demanding USD 1 B in compensation.

Viacom claims that almost 160,000 unauthorized clips of Viacom's programming have been made available on video sharing website YouTube, owned by Google, which have been viewed more the 1.5 billion times.

Viacom is the parent company of television networks MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon, as well as film studios Paramount Pictures and Dreamworks.
