The Fifth National Festival of Organic Farming was opened in Sofia on Saturday with the special exhibition of various kinds of herbs, milk products, pets and honey and other apiarian products.

Speaking at the opening of the festival, Agriculture and Forestry Minister Nihat Kabil promised a National Plan for the Development of Organic Farming 2006-2013 wil be tabled for approval for the government by December.

Bulgarian bio-farmers gathered for the fifth successive year with the fest of bio-agriculture held in Sofia's South Park. The organizers gave out awards for the Prettiest Cow of the year.

Honey, especially home made one, enjoys significant popularity among people in the country, as there are many who make a living on apiculture or just have it as a hobby. There are different kinds of honey - made from lime-tree or pine stamens, or honeycomb and nuts-mixed - used as sweeteners or served as a sweet course.
