The unique gold artefacts unearthed this summer by Bulgarian archaeologists most probably head for Japan next year.

The pearl of the treasure - a unique gold mask, believed to depict the face of ancient Thracian king, probably that of Seutus III or Theres, is also expected to be presented on the International 2005 Expo in Japan.

This was announced by the mayor of Bulgarian town of Kazanlak, in the surroundings of which the gold was found.

The gold most probably will travel to Japan in the end of April 2005 at the invitation of the Fine Art Institute in the Tokyo University.

The 2,500-year-old sensational find has been exhibited twice in Bulgaria so far and already triggered interest among museums all over the world.

Bulgarian exposition at the Japan Expo 2005 is to be officially opened in May by Bulgaria's President Georgi Parvanov.
