Bulgaria's border police have captured 22 Syrian illegal immigrants in a single day at the country's Turkish border.
The total number of illegal immigrants arrested over the last 24 hours is 33, border police official Zaharin Petrov has told reporters.
On Tuesday, Bulgarian Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov revealed that the migrant pressure on Bulgaria's Turkish border has increased by 50% over the last two months.
There are already 280 foreigners at the accommodation centers for emigrants in Lyubimets and Pastrogor, while their total capacity is 600.
Tsvetanov further explained that when 70% of the capacity is reached (420 people), the country must launch the crisis plan for accommodating a refugee wave such as erecting tent camps, among others.
Border police have already been dispatched to increase security at the Bulgarian-Turkish border.
Following a Sunday meeting between Tsvetanov and his Turkish counterpart Idris Naim Shahin, it was announced that joint patrols could be set up to guard the Bulgarian-Turkish border.
