Experts at the Geophysical Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) have rejected the possibility of a stronger earthquake occurring after Saturday afternoon's 4.5-magnitude jolt.
BAS scientists explained that the quake could only be followed by lighter aftershocks in the next few hours.
The experts also said that the 4.5-magnitude quake had been an aftershock of the 5.8-magniture quake which hit Pernik on May 22.
Saturday's quake struck at 3.52 p.m. at a depth of 10 kilometers and was epicentered 7 km southeast of Pernik and 19 kilometers west of Sofia.
No casualties or damages have been reported and teams of firefighters and police officers have been dispatched to the site to offer help, if necessary.
