Ukrainian Woman Detained in Sunny Beach After Attempted Bribery of Police Officers
Bulgarian authorities found themselves grappling with a peculiar case involving a 60-year-old Ukrainian woman
Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov held a technical meeting with Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Geophysical Institute chair Prof. Nikolay Miloshev following the strong earthquake in western Bulgaria Tuesday.
Borisov learned the opinion of the Institute on the development of the earthquake situation, as well as on the instructions for behavior in case of future earthquakes.
"Prof. Miloshev emphasized again that it is more probable that the earthquake will die off, and that a new, stronger, 7.5-degree tremor is highly unlikely," stated the PM after the meeting.
Borisov also announced that the Bulgarian police will be organized in a new mode of operation during earthquakes, with patrols going around neighborhoods and announcing instructions to citizens via megaphones.
They will also aid in the logistics for a streamlined dissemination of infromation from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences' National Institute in Geophysics, Geodesy and Geography to media and the population.
The Bulgarian PM also read out at a briefing after the meeting the instructions presented to him by Prof. Miloshev for actions to be taken by people in an earthquake.
