Pavel Angelov, the head of the regional unit for combating terrorism in the Bulgarian city of Veliko Tarnovo, has accidentally shot himself with his personal weapon.

According to local media, the accident happened as Angelov was getting home from work at approximately 4 am local time on Monday. He reportedly dropped his weapon while undressing.

Another report says that Angelov was actually preparing to go to work, dnevnik.bg informs.

The bullet has affected internal organs, but Angelov has undergone surgery and his life is not in danger.

Pavel Angelov is a former bodyguard of Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.
