Bulgaria: Football Union Head's Son May Be Named Bulgaria Captain Bulgarian national goalkeeper Nikolay Mihaylov during a training session of Bulgarian national soccer team in Pravec, Bulgaria on 22 March 2011.

Twente goalkeeper Nikolay Mihaylov may be named captain of Bulgaria's national football team ahead of the upcoming friendly against Hungary, it has been reported.

Mihaylov is the son of Borislav Mihaylov, former Bulgarian goalkeeper who also used to be the captain of the country's national team. Borislav Mihaylov is currently the President of the Bulgarian Football Union.

The young goalkeeper is believed to be coach Lyuboslav Penev's first choice for captain after Aston Vila midfielder Stiliyan Petrov was surprisingly left out of the squad.

Another experienced player, Bolton's Martin Petrov, was also not called by Penev, who seeks to introduce younger footballers to his squad ahead of Bulgaria's tough World Cup 2014 quailifying campaign.

According to recent reports, Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov may soon return to the Bulgarian national football team after he quit it in 2009.
