Bulgarian firms have lost up to BGN 230 M due to the gas crisis, according to the chairman of the Bulgarian Industrial Association (BIA), Bozhidar Danev.

During a press conference on Monday Danev called on businesses affected by the crisis to hold the government to account for not taking proficient precautionary measures to deal with the situation.

In the view of the BIA, the gas crisis has already added to what is likely to be a very serious economic crisis in Bulgaria during 2009.

The Bulgarian government has already made an official compensation claim with Gazprom and is waiting to see if it can recover some of the money lost during the two week saga.
