The Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov welcomed Wednesday the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Petras Vaitiekunas and the delegation led by him.

The development of the relations between Bulgaria and Lithuania, and the bilateral cooperation within NATO and the EU were the main topics during the meeting.

Both sides noted the upsurge in the bilateral trade and investment flows but pointed out there was a lot more that could be done in the field of economic relations.

On behalf of the Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus, Minister Vaitiekunas conveyed greetings to Parvanov and invited him to visit officially Lithuania.

The Bulgarian President expressed his willingness to pay a visit to the Baltic country, and stated his hope this would bring intensification of the bilateral cooperation in education, science, and culture in addition to trade relations.

Parvanov also expressed his gratitude to the Lithuanian President for his support of the Bulgarian demand about the way the name of the common European currency was written in Cyrillic.
