Bulgarian Hackers Declare Blog War on Macedonian over Offensive Posts

Politics | June 2, 2007, Saturday // 00:00

Bulgarian hackers have attacked Thursday night the Macedonian blog that published an insulting photo collage of one of the death-sentenced Bulgarian nurses in Libya and deleted it from the Internet space.

After the first blog was wiped away, another anti-Bulgarian one with 22 offensive texts about the country, its politicians, national heroes, the Bulgarian anthem and the national flag appeared. Hours later, Bulgaria hackers decided this cannot be tolerated and blocked the whole server, where the blog was uploaded.

The new blog, because of which the whole server shoveled together, had an ironic address to the Bulgaria hackers, followed by profanation of the Bulgarian Apostle of Freedom Vassil Levski and sadistic mockery of the death-sentenced Bulgarian nurses in Libya.
"We will not leave things this way," was the counter strike message that the Bulgarians left on the page.

The insulting post, that stirred heated debate and consequent hacker attacks, was made way back on February 1 and it depicts nurse Snezhana Dimitrova next to a monkey, with a text above saying "Sensational... Libyan monkey(s)". Above the whole picture stands the inscription "I want to apologise in advance to all monkeys".

Bulgarian citizens have reported to the system administrator asking the picture to be removed from the blog. Sadly, the Internet company that provides the server space has explicitly said in the general user conditions that it does not bear responsibility for the contents.

The blogger is the Macedonian citizen Mile Stoykovski, who is a handicapped marathon runner. He is currently trying to gather funds to take part in the upcoming Special Olympics in China.

Stoykovski's blog contains a lot more insulting pictures, commentaries and materials with anti-Bulgarian contents. The page is mainly focused on anti-Bulgarian propaganda and Macedonian ultra-nationalism.

The issue with the Bulgarian nurses in Libya, who were sentenced to death is a very touchy topic for all Bulgarians, especially after their death sentence was re-confirmed by a Libyan court on December 19, 2006.

The five nurses and the Palestinian Ashraf are accused on deliberately infecting 426 Libyan children with HIV.
