Saxe-Coburg Supported by European Royals Despite Scandal

Bulgaria's ex-Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg hasn't lost the respect and support of European royal families, despite the Savoy scandal, media reported.

Saxe-Coburg attended the silver wedding of their Royal Highnesses Henri Albert Gabriel Felix Marie Guillaum, Grand Duke of Luxembourg, and the Grand Duchess Maria Teresa Mestre, where he was reportedly showered with compassion.

"You can't imagine these people dealing with such nonsense," the son of Bulgaria's last king said for 24 Hours daily. "Even so, I did hear wonderful things about myself, things that warmed my heart after everything that was reported in Bulgaria."

Over 900 people gathered to celebrate the royal family's silver wedding, with aristocrats from Belgium, Denmark, Jordan, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Sweden, Romania, Greece and many other countries present. Simeon's son - Bulgarian Prince Kyril Preslavski and his wife Rosario Nadal also attended the event.

Bulgaria's former PM refused to comment on the corruption scandal rocking his cousin, Italy's crown prince Victor Emmanuel. He said that the media would twist his every word. Still, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the whole ordeal, as once his name had been slanted, there was no going back, even though he was exonerated.

Saxe-Coburg's name was first involved in Italy's royal scandal and he denied vehemently, but then Italian businessman Pierpaolo Cerani confessed he had made up all he said about the ex-PM's involvement.
