Bulgarian Ministerial Property to Go Online

The tax declarations of all Bulgarian ministers and deputy ministers will be made public online in the beginning of this week, the country's first diplomat said.

The move comes in line with a series of anti-corruption measures, which supplement the regular scheme for fulfilling Bulgaria's commitments to fight graft practices, Foreign Minister Ivaylo Kalfin told the Bulgarian National Radio.

Bulgaria's Audit Office will be entitled to verify the information in the declarations politicians submit on their property, the action plans also envisions.

The minister said heavy fines will be imposed on high-ranking officials who fail to submit a declaration about their property.

Minister Kalfin added that the government will also secure necessary legislative gears to make all political parties unveil their sponsors.

The EU ambassadors to the country have suggested extending expert help to Sofia in the areas still to make up with reforms until autumn, Kalfin noted.
