A Liverpool football fan has made new written confessions for an attack over a 26-year-old Bulgarian.

The information emerged from Luxemburg newspaper Tageblatt. Graham Sankey, 20, has confessed that he has seriously hurt bartender Martin Georgiev but refuses to surrender or sign in favour of Michael Shields' release.

Shields, 19, was accused of attacking Georgiev on May 29 in the Golden Sands resort near the port city of Varna. A Bulgarian court sentenced him to 15 years in prison. He met on Friday with his father and sister, who came to Bulgaria.

Sankey's lawyer has said he has already faxed his client's confessions to Bulgarian authorities. According to the papers, Sankey was very drunk at the time of the incident and panicked when he saw three men holding bottles. As a result, he lifted a rock and threw it at one of them.

The Briton apologises to Georgiev and admits ruining his and Shields' lives. British daily Mirror reported that Sanki could be extradited.

Georgiev has suffered a fractured skull. Under an agreement between Bulgaria and the United Kingdom the Briton may serve his sentence in his homeland.

The other British defendant in the case, 19-year-old Anthony Wilson, was sentenced to two and a half years imprisonment for possession of cannabis. He was cleared of hooliganism charges. Wilson may return home as his sentence has been suspended.
