Poll stations opened all over the UK Thursday as people choose who will form the next government.
Local elections are also taking place in 34 county councils and three unitary authorities. There are four mayoral contests.
Labour leader and current Prime Minister Tony Blair will cast his vote in his Sedgefield constituency, while Conservative contender Michael Howard will vote in Folkestone and Hythe. Liberal Democrat Charles Kennedy will submit his vote in Ross and Skye.
A clear picture about the final results of the vote are expected on Friday morning at the earliest.
