Bulgaria will not open records of country's former special services before the elections, Bulgaria's Interior Minister Georgi Petkanov said on Wednesday.
For the opening of the files a change in the law system is needed, Petkanov also said at a special press conference.
The former secret services agents have free access to the information they have given, but no other people are allowed to view the archives, the minister explained.
The records will remain in the Interior Ministry since there are no law regulations requiring their transfer, Petkanov also said.
A group of MPs, including Ivan Kostov, leader of the rightist Democrats for Strong Bulgaria, reminded days ago that no Bulgarian minister has presented documents in the Central State Archive in the last two years, as required by the law for classified information.
Kostov also proposed the Interior Ministry archive to become a part of the Central State Archive.
