Bulgaria's Energy Minister Miroslav Sevlievski and his Turkish counterpart Hilmi Guler agreed Tuesday on building a new dam lake.
Sevlievski, Guler and Turkey's Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan met in Sofia to discuss the problem with the river's frequent overflows in the two countries.
The two sides agreed on appointing experts to develop the project.
There should not be any speculation on the exact location or cost of the project before the two countries present official statements and before forming expert groups, Minister Sevlievski said after the meeting.
The river Tundzha springs from the central part of the Stara Planina Mountain in Bulgaria, continues southwards and floats into Maritsa river in Turkey.
