Some two hundred Iraqi troops surrendered to British Royal Marine commandos operating in southern Iraq on Friday, the BBC news Web site reported. The information was confirmed by CNN.

"A BBC correspondent sees scores and scores of Iraqi soldiers surrendering to 40 Commando, UK Royal Marines, in southern Iraq," it said.

The unit, along with 42 Commando, are part of Britain's Third Commando Brigade, which attacked the al Faw peninsula overnight to capture key oil facilities.
