Evgeni Stoev, MP from Bulgaria's ruling centrist-right GERB, has no intention of withdrawing his proposal to lift the country's full smoking ban in enclosed public spaces.
Stoev has reiterated his stance despite the fact that GERB leader and Prime Minister Boyko Borisov vowed to "resign" if the ban was lifted, dnevnik.bg has informed.
Last week, GERB lawmakers Evgeni Stoev and Ivan Bozhilov tabled amendments to Bulgaria's tourism legislation that envision the reinstatement of segregated smoking and non-smoking areas in establishments.
The two MPs also want small establishments (up to 50 square meters) to be able to choose whether they would allow smokers or non-smokers.
The smoking ban survived last week, as the parliamentary committee on health unanimously voted against lifting it.
However, the parliamentary committee on economy is yet to discuss lifting the ban.
