A seventeen-year-old boy has been detained on suspicions of robbing the daily turnover of Tokuda hospital in the Bulgarian capital Sofia last month.

Around 8 pm on January 23, an unknown assailant entered the building, threatened the female receptionist, and hit her with a rubber club. He then proceeded to take BGN 30 000 from the safety vault and ran away.

The man had been unmasked.

The woman at the reception desk suffered a broken arm. The hospital's management said in a statement that this is the first ever case of an assault against the health care facility.

The detained teen has carried out four robberies and two thefts within a month, police said.

He has been placed under supervision and faces from 3 to 10 years in jail if found guilty.
