The Bulgarian shooter who killed a love rival and later put a bullet in his own head Monday has perished.
On Monday, Martin Ivanov, 22, shot and killed 20-year old Georgi Shopov at a busy Sofia boulevard intersection. He then tried to commit suicide. Initially, it was reported that the shooting was triggered by a minor traffic accident.
However, it turned out the shooter and the victim knew each other and had scheduled to meet on the busy boulevard intersection where the tragedy took place. Both youngsters, who were studying in Sofia's Technical University, had gone out with the same lady, a 16-year-old high school student.
The accident took place at the intersection of the Bulgaria and Gotse Delchev boulevards in the capital. It is the same place at which Emil Kyulev, a banker and one of the richest men in Bulgaria, was shot and killed while driving his BMW sports utility vehicle on October 26, 2005
Bulgarian mafia boss of Syrian origin, Filip Naydenov, aka Fatik.was killed at the same intersection in an AK-47 raid in 2003.
