The man, who held several people hostages in an unprecedented for Bulgaria drama, has been identified as Hristo Petrov, 27, from the town of Nova Zagora.

The news was reported in the Parliament by Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, Thursday morning. He briefed the Members of the Parliament immediately after his return from the city of Sliven where the incident took place in a local branch of Investbank.

Borisov further informed the special police task team is already inside the bank and they have found another woman, hiding in an office, unknown to the assailant. Police had taken the money out of the bank, but the man is still inside.

Earlier Thursday morning, the last woman held hostage by Petrov was released after an over 18-hour ordeal.

"The Sliven drama is over," Borisov said under the sound of thunder applause.

The PM appealed to Petrov to give himself in, promising the police would not even "slap him," and he would not be shot at or humiliated.

Borisov explained all hostages are safe and sound, while the security guard, who was wounded during the first minutes of the attack, is improving after surgery. The assailant never demanded a ransom, the PM said, adding his profile is already known, but declining to elaborate.

He thanked the Chief Secretary of the Interior, Kalin Georgiev, Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, the special police force, the anti-terrorist team, and the psychologists, who worked on the case.

Borisov also addressed the media saying:

"I ask you to understand that in such incidents it is not only the news that matter. You must coordinate with the police because last night he was ready to release all hostages, but someone told him there was a report the man in the hospital is critical and he got scared."
