The Bulgarian National Revenue Agency will be checking the estate of Minister of Interior Tsvetan Tsvetanov through the remaining months of this year.

The regulart time frame for such a check is 3 months, explained NRA spokesperson Rosen Bachvarov in an interview for the Bulgarian National Radio Sunday.

In the past weeks, Tsvetanov has been facing a string of accusations by representatives of small RZS party that he has abused the official positions he has occupied to unlawfully acquire real estate properties.

Tsvetanov has publicly said he has nothing to hide and a Revenue Agency check has been launched on the assets he and his family have.

As things stand, this check will not be ending up with conclusive results anytime soon, leaving speculations to flourish.

The NRA spokesperson commented that the NRA check will span income and assets 5 years back, but will not include any comments or analysis on discrepancies between what Tsvetanov has received as remuneration and what he actually owns.

Last Wednesday, Minister Tsvetanov reported to Parliament on his material status, to the satisfaction of fellow GERB MPs and the annoyance of the opposition, who have consistently requested that an ad hoc investigative parliamentary committee be called on the case.
