Syria has agreed to pay back part of its debt to Bulgaria during the official visit of PM Boyko Borisov to Damascus.

Borisov revealed that Syria would pay Bulgaria USD 17 M during the next month, which is 24% of the total USD 75 M debt.

He continued that the deal reached means that Syria will pay Bulgaria the largest % payment made to any of the countries that it is indebted to.

Earlier, Borisov met with the Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad as part of a formal visit of a state delegation including Foreign Minister Mladenov, Finance Minister Djankov, and Economy Minister Traikov.
