The lawyer of ex secret agent Aleksei Petrov, who was arrested in the recent Bulgarian police ‘Octopus’ operation, has stated that there is no evidence to justify his continued detention.

Ina Lulcheva, speaking in an interview for Nova Televizia, said Monday that Petrov would appeal the Sofia City Court decision for his permanent detention.

Lulcheva added that she had also not seen any classified documents that were reported to have been found in Petrov’s offices.

Aleksei Petrov (nicknamed “The Tractor”) who is a former commando, secret agent, and advisor of the Director of Bulgaria’s State National Security Agency DANS together with Plamen Stoyanov and Yordan Stoyanov (aka the Dambovtsi Brothers), Marchelo Dzholotov, Momchil Krastev, Lozana Slavcheva, and Nikolay Velkov were all left behind bars by the Sofia City Court last Friday.
