EPP Group Chair Daul thinks there is nothing wrong with the bid of Bulgarian EU Commissioner-Designate Jeleva despite rumors about her in the EU institutions. Photo by BGNES
Spokesperson of the EPP Group Chair, Joseph Daul, told Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency) Daul believed there was “nothing wrong” with the bid of the Bulgarian EU Commissioner-Designate, Rumiana Jeleva.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Co-Chair of the Greens/EFA Group Daniel Cohn-Bendit and the Chair of the EPP Group Joseph Daul, speaking at separate news conferences, said ‘rumors’ in the European institutions about the activities of the husband of Bulgarian Commissioner-Designate, Rumiana Jeleva, could create problems with Jeleva’s confirmation during her hearing in the EP in January 2010.
Antoine Ripoll, Spokesperson of Joseph Daul, told Novinite.com that the EPP Group Chair was confident that everything was perfectly fine with the nomination of Rumiana Jeleva for EU Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid, and Crisis Prevention.
Ripoll said MEP Daul declined to enter “any more polemics” about the rumors spread about Jeleva in the EU institutions, and that he had made it clear the EPP did not work with rumors. Daul has also made it explicitly clear that each Commissioner-Designate will have to demonstrate on their own that they were qualified for the jobs they had been nominated for.
