The fifth National Conference of the youth organization of the Bulgarian ethnic Turkish party Movement for Right s and Freedoms (DPS) is being held Saturday in Sofia.
The conference takes place at the National Palace of Culture and its official guests include the party leader, Ahmed Dogan, the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Hristo Biserov, and other high-ranking party members.
The current leader of the DPS youth organization and Member of the Parliament from DPS, Korman Ismaillov, gave an account for his 3-year term. According to Ismailov’s report, the youth organization of DPS currently has 19 000 members while the weaker branches that need to be reinforced are in the western city of Pernik and the northern cities of Vratsa and Montana.
The Deputy Chair of the DPS Parliamentary Group, Luytvi Mestan, addressed the delegates and promised them the party would continue to stand firm and counteract “the ugliest and most dangerous attempt in Bulgaria’s politics – assimilation of the right-wing voter by the ideology of the far-right, nationalist “Ataka” party.’
The Forum’s program includes a meeting to be held behind closed doors to elect a new leader of the DPS youth organization, members of the DPS National Youth Council and adoption of a program declaration.
