Bulgarian Sumo giant Kaloyan Mahlyanov - Kotooshu will be awarded with the Stara Planina Order 1st Class, the country's highest distinction.

The Bulgarian government decided Thursday that Kotooshu should be awarded for his achievements and for being "Bulgaria's best ambassador of good will in Japan".

Bulgaria President Georgi Parvanov is set to agree with the government's suggestion and will most likely honor Kotooshu for his active promotion of Bulgaria abroad at an official ceremony in July.

Kotooshu is the most successful foreign sumo wrestler who currently competes in Japan. He has gone down in world sumo history as the first European to win the Emperor's Cup.
