"Levski" Marks 104 years since the Founding of the Football Club
Sofia football club "Levski" will celebrate today its 104th birthday.
Levski Sofia FC has won the Bulgaria A league title after a home draw with Minyor Pernik on Sunday in Sofia.
Emil Velev's Levski wrapped up their 26th Bulgarian league crown after a 1-1 draw with Minyor that took them beyond the reach of last year's champions CSKA Sofia, whose title defence ended with a 1-0 loss at Litex Lovech, uefa.com reported.
Levski were two points clear going into Sunday's penultimate round of matches. They fell behind when Kostadin Hazurov gave Minyor the lead against the run of play shortly after half time. However, and after missing a string of chances they finally drew level through Vladimir Gadjev with 16 minutes remaining.
The result took them three points clear of city rivals CSKA Sofia with one match remaining, Levski's superior head-to-head record bringing them the A PFG trophy they last won in 2007 and a UEFA Champions League qualifying place.
Certain of finishing runners-up, CSKA Sofia will enter UEFA Europa League qualifying after failing to at least keep pace with the leaders. Litex's Brazilian midfielder Madureira consigned the capital outfit to defeat when he scored seconds after the restart, collecting the ball from Radostin Kishishev and leaving goalkeeper Ivaylo Petrov no chance with his shot.
