Thousands of anti-government protesters have stormed two airports in Thailand's capital Bangkok causing chaos in their flight schedules, the CNN reported Wednesday.

The angry crowds are protesting against the return of Thailand's Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat from the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in Peru.

The main airport Suvarnabhumi Airport was closed after an explosion occurred there at 5 a.m. local time. Several protesters broke into the Airport's control tower demanding information about the Prime Minister's expected return from Peru.

Another explosion at the Don Muang International Airport occurred at 6:40 a.m. local time on Wednesday. The explosions resulted from the clashed between anti- and pro-government protesters, which led to the exchange of gunfire, according to CNN.

The clash started when the anti-government People's Alliance for Democracy held a rally close to the Don Muang airport, which the government is using as its temporary office.

The People's Alliance for Democracy is accusing Thailand's present government of being under the influence of the former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who was brought down in a bloodless coup in 2006.

In October Thailand's Supreme Court sentenced Thaksin two years in prison for abusing his power while in office. Thaksin's current location is unknown.
