Serbian Special Services had caught Radovan Karadzic as result of an anonymous phone call, according to the Sunday issue of the Blitz newspaper.

According to the publication, citing an anonymous source from the investigation task unit, an individual who declined to identify himself, has called the Serbian Special Services to draw their attention to a person with white beard and gray hair, practicing alternative medicine, traveling around Serbia and organizing health conferences.

"You must check him up, his voice is similar to the one of Karadzic," had said the anonymous caller before hanging up. After the call the special services have been checking the person to make sure it was indeed Karadzic before arresting him six weeks later.

Karadzic was arrested during a police raid in Belgrade on July 21, 13 years after he was first indicted by the United Nations War Crimes Tribunal for genocide.

Karadzic, who is accused of genocide, was living and working under the name of Dragan David Dabic. Serbian media had said Dabic was a Serb fighter who died in the war but reports from Sarajevo, quoted by the Guardian, claim he was a civilian killed by Karadzic's troops who besieged the Bosnian capital during the 1992-1995 war.

The former president of the Republic of Srpska is accused of authorizing the shooting of civilians during the 43-month siege of Sarajevo and orchestrating the slaughter of some 8,000 Muslim men in the Eastern Bosnian town of Srebernica during the Bosnia war.
