Iran Celebrates 29 Years since the Islamic Revolution

Iran Celebrates 29 Years since the Islamic Revolution Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared Iran would not give up its nuclear program on the occassion of the 29th anniversary since the Islamic Revolution.

Thousands of Iranians participated in rallies in cities all over the country celebrating the 29th anniversary since the revolution on February 11, 1979, which brought down the government of Shah Mohamad Reza Pehlavi, and gave birth to the present Islamic Republic of Iran.

Many of the participants in the celebrations shouted anti-American slogans or carried such posters reading "Death to America", "Death to Israel", "Israel is enemy to Islam and humankind", "Nuclear energy is our unconditional right".

In his speech on the Azadi Square in Tehran, the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared that Iran would never give up its nuclear program despite the UN Security Council resolution.

Referring to the draft resolution approved in Berlin by the USA, the UK, China, France, Russia, and Germany, Ahmadinejad said all they could do was play with documents and make propaganda.
