Serbia Plotting Secret Return from World Cup Fiasco

The national team of Serbia and Montenegro are desperately plotting a secret return from the World Cup after they lost 0:6 to Argentina, media reported.

Serbia's Football Union has launched a complex scheme, hoping to land the players somewhere away from the angry crowds of reporters and football lovers Trud daily newspaper reported.

The team has tickets for a Friday flight to Belgrade, but they have decided to leave as soon as their game with Cote d'Ivoire on Wednesday has finished. Reports claim that the team has booked a charter flight by an unnamed Turkish company and are now considering the option of landing somewhere else under the cloak of darkness.

Sofia is ready to welcome the players, who can then cross the border into their own country incognito, the daily suggests. This way Bulgaria will have a strong football friend for upcoming tournaments, and most importantly a "back door" for players to come home through in similar situations, the article states.

So far Serbia and Montenegro have ranked as the worst team in Germany's 2006 World Cup with two losses and seven goals in their own post. The team still hasn't scored and the game on Wednesday is their only chance to save their pride at least a bit after the crushing blow from Argentina.

This will be Serbia and Montenegro's last game as an united team, now that Montenegro has proclaimed their independence and been recognized as a sovereign state.
