Bulgaria Cuffs 2 Main "Internet Pirates"

Bulgarian police arrested the administrator and system operator of the arenabg.com web site, which is one of Bulgaria's main torrent sites providing users with pirate music, movies and software.

The two were arrested for putting download links to 20 million songs and hundreds of films on the web site.

The two arrested men, the administrator known by the nickname Payforfree and the system administrator - CSDemo are said to be among the top managers of the pirate site. The homes of the two men were attacked last night during a police operation. It appeared that they used their homes for command centres for control of the spread of the biggest for Bulgaria pirate content.

The computer of the 46-yer-old administrator was found is a regime of administrating of the forums of the web site. A computer system with 500 GB disc space, computer router system, a laptop, 3 hard disks and over 200 CDs with illegally recorded movies were discovered in his home. Another three satellite receivers were also found.

During the parallel check into the apartment of the system operator, T.Ts., 27, police discovered 3 computer systems.

The two detainees owned a high-speed network used to download new movies and songs from foreign pirate sites. A bail of BGN 10,000 (EUR 5,000) was set for each of the arrestees.

The arrest of the two men comes after in the beginning of the May Bulgaria's office for fighting organized crime announced that they are about to hit the pirate industry in the country harder than ever.

Raids against Internet users, who illegally download and distribute audio and video files were launched all over the country.
