Syrian authorities are responsible for the chemical weapons attack outside Syrian capital Damascus, according to the Association of Free Syrians in Bulgaria.
The Syrian president Bashar al-Assad , the Parliament and the Army are the main government forces in charge of the gruesome event that occurred on early on Wednesday, said representatives of the association at a press event in Sofia.
“It is clear that Assad's regime in Damascus cannot cope with its most crucial task provided by the law which is to keep the Syrian nation safe,” stressed Nidal Algafari, a Bulgarian film director and PR expert of Syrian origin, and a member of the Association of Free Syrians.
The Association urged a UN intervention in the political situation in the Arab country, claiming that authorities of the Assad regime must leave the country.
According to data Algafari said he has, the victims of the chemical attacks are 1,703 people, among whom hundreds women and children.
The gas used in the chemical attack is supposed to be the neuroparalytic gas sarin.
Although UN experts on chemical weapons are now disposed in Syria, official information for the source of the attack is not available.
