Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri has called upon Muslims to kidnap Westerners in a newly released video.

In the video, Al-Zawahiri has urged fellow Egyptians to restart their revolution in order to press for governance by Islamic law, or Shariah.

He has stated that a battle is being waged in Egypt between a secular minority and a devout Muslim majority that wants to see a Palestinian victory over Israel and wants its government liberated from US influence, The Times of Israel informs.

"We are seeking, by the help of Allah, to capture others and to incite Muslims to capture the citizens of the countries that are fighting Muslims in order to release our captives," Al-Zawahiri  declared, praising the kidnapping of Warren Weinstein, a 71-year-old American aid worker in Pakistan last year.

"I incite Muslims everywhere, especially in the countries that are contiguous to Syria, to rise up to support their brothers in Syria with all what they can and not to spare anything that they can offer," he said, as cited by international media.

With respect to the US president, al-Zawahiri demanded that Barack Obama accept defeat in Afghanistan, Iraq and North Africa.
