Bulgaria: France: Merah's Father Has Right to Sue State, but Act Vulgar Forensic and Police officers are seen at work in front of the Ozar Hatorah Jewish school in Toulouse, France, 19 March 2012, where Mohamed Merah opened fire and killed a 30-years old teacher and three children aged 6, 3 and 10. The father of Toulouse gunman is perfectly within his rights to sue France, but such an act would be the height of indecency, French politicians have said.

"While the man is perfectly within his rights to start legal proceedings, it would be indecent," President Nicolas Sarkozy's chief adviser, Henri Guaino, told France Culture radio, as cited by France 24.

"A little bit of decency right now would do everyone a lot of good," Guaino added. "To try to blame the state is the height of indecency. This monster killed in cold blood. French society owes him absolutely nothing."

Other French politicians took their criticism a step further.

"If I were the father of such a monster, I would shut my mouth in shame," French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said on Tuesday.

Mohamed Merah, 23, killed seven people, including three children, in southern France before he was shot dead in a siege at his home last week.

The father of Toulouse gunman Mohamed Merah has hired an Algerian lawyer to sue French special police over his son's death, French media reported.

Algiers-based lawyer Zahia Mokhtari told French media Mohamed Benalal Merah considered his son had been murdered.
