Bulgarian sprinter Ivet Lalova won the women's 100-metres dash at the 64th Balkan Athletics Championships in the Bulgarian town of Sliven on Saturday, clocking the impressive 10.93 secs.

Ivet Lalova became the first European female sprinter to go sub-11 seconds in six-years after the women's 100-metres, Sporting Alert points out.

The performance bettered her 2011 personal best, 11.08 secs achieved in Izmir, Turkey in May.

The 2004 Olympics th place finisher became the 8th female sprinter to go under the 11-seconds barrier this season.

Her run on Saturday hints of her great form ahead of the upcoming IAAF World Championships later this summer.
