The carefully orchestrated wedding ceremony of Prince William and Kate Middleton on Friday in London went off without a hitch, except for one fallen horse.

The horse – member of the mounted Household Calvary - slipped and fell as the newly married couple made their way to Buckingham Palace.

The dismounted rider - a member of the Blues and Royals horse guard - ended up on the ground when his horse tripped along the parade route from Westminster Abbey while following the carriage carrying William and Kate.

There were no reported injuries.

Commentators, who have inevitably drawn parallels to the most watched royal wedding in history so far – that of Prince Charles, say the mishap is nothing in comparison with Princess Diana's goofs in 1981.
