China opposes all attempts at interfering with its internal policies, stated Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson Hung Lei regarding the US Department of State 2010 report on human rights.
The State Department report, published Friday, has once again voiced sharp misgivings about the state of human rights in China.
"China would like to develop dialogue regarding human rights on the basis of equal standing and mutual respect, but is firmly against using that issue to interfere with its internal affairs," stated Lei Saturday.
The 2010 report of the US State Department has voiced similar criticisms regarding corruption and the level of rule of law in Bulgaria.
"We recommend to the American side to pay more attention to its own issues in the field of human rights and not to assume the position of a great teacher in the field," said the Chinese foreign affairs spokesperson, adding, "The US should stop using such reports and like methods of interference with internal affairs of other countries."
