On November 09 2010 Germany marks 21 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall.

The Wall was built in August 1961 and for 28 years separated West Berlin from the German Democratic Republic. The wall was a sort of a symbol of the Cold War and the splitting of Europe.

In today's Berlin only a few sections of the former wall and some watchtowers still exist.

Last year's anniversary was celebrated on a bigger scale than today, with more than 30 politicians from around the world having come to mark the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Berlin celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall with a "Festival of Freedom" with dignitaries from around the world in attendance for an evening celebration around the Brandenburg Gate.

On November 7 2010, Bulgarian Trabant and Wartburg owners gathered in their cars in Bulgaria's capital Sofia in order to commemorate the symbolic East German vehicles. The event was inspired by the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall.
